American Sail Training Association 2003 Sail Training Awards
Mr. Francis MacLachlan Awarded to an individual who has dedicated his/her life's work to getting people to sea under sail and who has worked to preserve the traditions and skills of sail training.
Sail Trainer of the Year 2003 Captain Jan Miles Awarded to an ASTA member (may be a captain, crew member, volunteer, board member, etc.) who most demonstrates leadership by means of empowerment and inspiration.
Chuck Fowler Awarded to a current ASTA member who significantly advances ASTA's overall mission.
Matthew "Jersey" Bamford Awarded to an individual who significantly advances ASTA's overall mission through support of an ASTA member program/vessel.
Chicago, Illinois Awarded to a city/municipality which demonstrates significant support of ASTA, and ASTA Member Organization, or furthers public recognition of sail training.
2003 Special Recognition Award Europa In recognition of Europa's support of ASTA, the ASTA Mission, and the TALL SHIP'S CHALLENGE® Race Series 2003 Special Recognition Award Niña In recognition of Niña's support of ASTA, the ASTA Mission, and the TALL SHIP'S CHALLENGE® Race Series
Fair Jeanne Awarded to the top finishing ASTA Member Vessel in the TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Great Lakes 2003 Races.
The Black Pearl Award Highlander Sea Awarded to an organizational member of ASTA who demonstrates interest in and support for ASTA and its mission by participating in the summer TALL SHIPS CHALLENGE® Race Series and who finishes within the top three ranking ships in overall rally events. This cash award of $1000 is to be used by the sail training organization expressly for the purpose of a sail trainee scholarship. |
