In 2003, the American Sail Training Association celebrated the 30th anniversary of its founding. A lot has happened over that period, including the growth of the organization from a handful of vessels that sailed in the Northeastern United States to now over 250 tall ships and sail training vessels that navigate the world's lakes, bays, seas, and oceans providing character building experiences and lifelong memories for thousands of youth of all ages each year.
A very important factor in our growth over the years has been the strength of our membership. without the support of our members, many of the education and scholarship programs that we offer would not be possible.

Sail Tall Ships! A Directory of Sail Training and Adventure at Sea lists more than 270 member programs and includes a photograph and list
of specifications for each vessel, as well as program descriptions and
complete contact information. The directory also includes personal
accounts of voyages and other articles designed to help you get underway... Sail Tall Ships! is now in its 16th edition. 
ASTA's biannual newsletter, Running Free, provides updated program and vessel information, a calendar of events, and more complete news of the American Sail Training Association...

Open to non-profit organizations which do not operate
vessels but do offer sail training or sea education programs (Scouts,
schools, colleges, etc.)
Business Partner $475
Appropriate for those organizations, corporations, businesses and
ports which do not own/operate a vessel or offer sail training or sea education programs but which do support sail training
and the ASTA mission.
