Overview:
- In close cooperation with Bermuda’s school system, this challenging and exciting position offers the opportunity to play a major role in rekindling, within a large segment of Bermuda’s youth, the curiosity and excitement for learning through the sea and aboard the foundation’s sail training vessel, STV Spirit of Bermuda.
- STV Spirit of Bermuda has a custom-built cold-moulded epoxy hull. A three-masted Bermudian rigged sail training vessel, she was built in the U.S. to ABS standards. Her area of operation will primarily be in Bermudian waters, the North Atlantic and the Caribbean.

CIMI Tall Ship Expeditions brings schools out for weekend, 3 day, 5 day and weeklong trips to Catalina Island and the Northern Channel Islands. Our program focuses on sail training, marine biology and snorkeling. At any time we have a maximum of 49 people on board but the average is less than that. We have a professional crew of 13. All are hired with a mind for educating and working with kids.
The Ships Cook is a position that must be filled by someone who can work and live in a small community, is kid friendly and above all else likes to cook! Must be a self-starter and like hard work. All ordering/ inventorying is done weekly through our food purveyors. Food is delivered to the ship. We do have a vehicle for errands if need be. Budgeting and Menu help is present to get you on the right track.
Our Galley is on the Deck level and is equipped with an electric stove and a reach in refrigerator. We also have a walk in Freezer and lots of refrigerator space below decks. While on board you set your own schedule around the meal times. Snorkeling, SCUBA Diving, Kayaking and hiking are all available at times throughout a trip.

Thompson Island Outward Bound Captain Training Program Trainer
Thompson Island Outward Bound (TIOB) is seeking an experienced pulling boat captain to run its Captain Training Program. Starting this spring and running ten weeks, TIOB will train and pay for six candidates to attain their USCG Captain’s licenses and train to be Outward Bound Watch Officers on sail expeditions, and we need a trainer.
The training program includes 30 days of sail training aboard the pulling boats, a five day diversity training to learn the skills needed to work alongside other staff members and with urban youth, a Wilderness First Responder course, and paid licensing fees and study materials for the Coast Guard examination. The trainer will be provided a room on Thompson Island for the duration of the training, as well as food while on course. Select sea staff will be hired to accompany the trainer while on overnight sails.
Spring in Massachusetts Bay provides hearty and exciting conditions for sailing, and we have trainees eager to learn and take on the challenge of what it takes to be an Outward Bound Watch Officer. Come check out Thompson Island and help us prepare our staff for a successful sailing season!

Looking for a captain that can help commission the boat and assist with rigging. Captain should have experience operating traditional vessels. Experience in training, leading and overseeing the development of crew is essential. Excellent boat handling skills in tight quarters a must! Since we'll be doing a lot of trips with the public, a love of working with people is a must!
