We are seeking an experienced rigging crew with the skills to safely down rig, rehab & send aloft the 1800 lb Mizzen topgallant/royal mast and all associated yards and rigging. Staff are required to teach a variety of marine science topics and be a part of role playing for our living history programs. A majority of our programs are marine science based.

Programs range in length from one-day trips to ten-day extended land/sea expeditions in the waters of Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries as well as off the New England coast.

Qualified applicants must possess a strong commitment to the education of all students, be motivated self-starters, function successfully as part of a team, and maintain a desire to work outdoors in a challenging but fun environment. Education/biology background is preferred, but we will train the right people.

Bayshore Discovery Project runs a mix of educational and public sails: half-day, day long and week long programs. Our education programs focus on Delaware Bay / Mid-Atlantic estuarine ecology, oysters, etc. We sail inshore and offshore, visiting various ports in the New Jersey/New York area and Chesapeake Bay.

Interns will work alongside educator/deckhands teaching on-board and some shore-based education programs, and participate in shipboard maintenance and vessel operations. The position requires some environmental education experience, a strong environmental ethic, plenty of stamina, flexibility and a positive attitude. Boat experience a plus. These are paid positions, with the possibility of signing on as educator/deckhands after the internship
.
The positions run for 3 months, typically April-June, June-August, and August-October.
