The schooner Fame and Salem Maritime National Historic Site will host a free program entitled “The Tall Ships Return to Boston” on Wednesday evening, February 6.
The program begins at 7 pm at St. Joseph Hall, 160 Derby Street in Salem, MA.
Our speaker is Jonathan Harley, Race Director of the American Sail Training Association (ASTA). He's the man in charge of setting up Tall Ships® port visits, and he'll be previewing the return of the Tall Ships® fleet to Boston in July 2009.
Before coming to ASTA, the Rhode Island native spent many years as Manager and Team Leader of the U.S. Olympic Sailing Team, which garnered 29 medals during his tenure. Previously he had worked in maritime education for Mystic Seaport, a job he took upon his return from a three-year cruise to the South Pacific in a 50-foot ketch.
The Hall is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 978-729-7600 or 978-740-1660.
