12 Women -- 3 Days -- 1 Amazing Adventure:  Join 11 other women April 19-22, 2007 and learn to sail an 85’ schooner on San Francisco Bay as part of the Women’s Sailing Challenge.  No sailing experience is necessary! Proceeds from the Women’s Challenge benefit the Tall Ship Semester for Girls, an alternative high school semester for Bay Area girls.

Girls Summer at Sea

Tall Ship Education Academy and Call of the Sea
June 25 to August 3, 2007

Immerse yourself in a new world this summer as you become part of the crew of an 82-foot sailing schooner. Raising sails alongside your shipmates, you will learn to pull harder and climb higher than you ever have before. Along the way, you will discover a new you.

Girls Summer at Sea offers Bay Area teenage girls six weeks of accredited classwork and true adventure. Students earn academic credit from SF State University and the Tall Ship Education Academy as they embark on a transformational personal voyage.  The program breaks into three integrated phases:

Preparation: Two weeks of instruction in the classroom at SF State University and in the field at the SF Maritime National Historical Park.

Voyage: Three weeks at sea along the California coast as crew of the 82-foot sailing schooner Seaward.

Culmination: One week of community service.

Girls Summer at Sea is open to current sophomore, juniors and seniors in high school   The Tall Ship Education Academy is committed to making our programs affordable to all accepted students. We offer a sliding scale tuition based on need; eligibility is determined by a financial aid application.
